Best Password Manager for a Microsoft 365 Small Business: What to Check (2026)

If your business runs on Microsoft 365, the password manager you pick should plug into Microsoft Entra ID. Staff then sign in with their work account, and when you disable someone's account, their vault access goes with it. Here's what Microsoft does and doesn't offer for passwords now, what "works with Entra ID" should actually mean, and how four popular business password managers describe their own Entra support.

Who this is for: a 5–50 person business on Microsoft 365 that shares passwords in a spreadsheet, a browser, or someone's head. Microsoft facts were checked against Microsoft Learn and Microsoft Support on 2026-10-22, and vendor features against each vendor's own pages the same day. I haven't listed prices: they change, so check each vendor's pricing page.

Doesn't Microsoft already do this?

Partly, and less than it used to:

My view: Edge's password manager is fine for one person's own logins. It isn't built for what a business needs: shared folders for the team, an admin who can see who has access to what, and a clean handover when someone leaves.

What "works with Entra ID" should mean

There are two separate features, and you want both:

SSO without provisioning still leaves you deleting leavers by hand in the password manager. Provisioning is what makes the offboarding step automatic (see my offboarding checklist). Both often depend on the plan tier, so check that the plan you'd actually buy includes them.

Four options, in their own words

This table only uses what each vendor (and Microsoft's Entra app gallery) says. I haven't tested these products for this guide.

ProductEntra ID SSOAutomatic provisioningPlan notes from the vendor
KeeperYes, SAML 2.0 through Keeper SSO Connect Cloud (Keeper docs)Yes. Microsoft's tutorial covers automated user provisioning and just-in-time provisioning (Microsoft Learn)Microsoft's tutorial says you need a Keeper subscription with SSO enabled. Keeper says its apps are compatible with Conditional Access policies.
NordPassYes, OpenID Connect, set up from the NordPass Admin Panel (NordPass support)Yes. Microsoft's tutorial covers creating and removing users and keeping attributes in sync (Microsoft Learn)NordPass says each user's email must exactly match their Entra user principal name, and that a Global Administrator or Cloud Application Administrator has to grant consent.
1PasswordYes, "Unlock with SSO" with Entra ID for 1Password Business (1Password support)Yes. 1Password says disabling a user or removing their assignment in Entra ID suspends them in 1Password (1Password support)1Password says SSO and provisioning are separate setups, and that a user's Entra email must match their 1Password email.
BitwardenYes, SAML 2.0 or OIDC, for Enterprise organizations (Bitwarden help)Yes. Bitwarden says SCIM integrations are available for Teams and Enterprise organizations (Bitwarden help)Bitwarden's SSO page mentions a 14-day Enterprise trial.

How I'd choose

  1. Confirm Entra ID SSO and SCIM provisioning are in the plan you'd buy. Look at the vendor's pricing page, not just the features page.
  2. Check that names line up. NordPass and 1Password both require the email in the password manager to match the Entra account, so sort out aliases first.
  3. Check recovery. Find out how an admin regains access if someone forgets their master password or leaves. The answer differs between products, and it's in each vendor's admin docs.
  4. Try it with a pilot group before rolling it out. Use a free trial if the vendor offers one.

Rolling it out

  1. Create a security group in Microsoft 365 for password manager users, and start with yourself and one other person.
  2. Set up SSO by following the vendor's Entra guide (linked in the table), then assign the group to the app under Enterprise applications in the Microsoft Entra admin center.
  3. Turn on provisioning for the same group, using the Microsoft Learn tutorial or the vendor's guide.
  4. Protect sign-in with MFA. With SSO, your Entra MFA applies. If you're on Business Premium, your Conditional Access policies apply too: see Conditional Access starter policies and Security defaults vs Conditional Access.
  5. Move shared passwords out of the spreadsheet into shared folders or collections. Then delete the spreadsheet, including from OneDrive's recycle bin.
  6. Add it to offboarding: confirm the leaver shows as suspended or removed in the password manager, and change any shared passwords they knew.
